Zavod Jupiter CJSC is a large machine-building enterprise located in the city of Valdai, Novgorod Region. Specializes in the production of optical instruments.
Built in 1973 by order of the Minister of Defense Industry Zverev for the production of optical devices, including lenses of the Helios-44 series. Since the late 1970s, he has been producing various photographic lenses (for example, Jupiter-3, Helios-44-2 ). In 1991, after the collapse of the USSR and the termination of the state order, the production capacity of the enterprise was not in demand, although qualified technical personnel remained at the enterprise. In 1999, at an open auction, the production complex of the plant was acquired by the St. Petersburg holding “LANK”.
In 2005, there was an attempt to raider the plant by a contender for the ownership of the enterprise. In 2013, the new owner of the Jupiter optical and mechanical plant stopped producing optical products and laid off 185 people. In 2014, the Jupiter Plant in the Novgorod Region came under the control of the Lytkarinsky Optical Glass Plant. According to the Valdai newspaper, the new owner bought 62% of the territory and 72% of the production area. The name of the plant, CJSC “Jupiter Plant”, has survived, and its main specialization is the production of optical devices and parts for them.
The production and scientific base of the plant allows to produce:
- Night-vision devices
- Flat and convex-concave lenses made of optical glass, silicon and quartz with a diameter of 120 mm
- Photo lenses
- Apply one- and two-layer AR coatings and multi-layer vacuum coatings
